Pavan Sukhdev

Pavan Sukhdev is a sustainability thought leader, an experienced innovator in sustainability metrics, and an influential voice amongst policy makers and institutions focused on sustainable development.

A career banker, Pavan delivered TEEB’s Interim Report (2008) whilst still working as a Managing Director of Global Markets Division at Deutsche Bank.

As Special Adviser and Head of UNEP’s Green Economy Initiative, Pavan led the path-breaking, ‘The Economics of Ecosystems & Biodiversity’ (TEEB) study (2008-2011) and UNEP’s landmark report ‘Towards a Green Economy’. He continues to support UN Environment and TEEB as Goodwill Ambassador and was Special Adviser to their recent study “TEEB for Agriculture and Food” (2018).

Pavan was awarded the McCluskey Fellowship (2011) by Yale University. At Yale, he taught a graduate course on TEEB and wrote his book “Corporation 2020”. His work has been recognized through several awards, including the Gothenburg Award for Sustainable Development (2013) and the Blue Planet Prize (2016).

Late Dr. Rajiv Sinha

Founder and Former Director

Late Dr. Rajiv K Sinha was the Lonnie Ostrom Distinguished Professor of Marketing at the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. 

During his distinguished international academic, consulting and research career he focused on econometric modelling of the temporal diffusion of innovations, public policy issues related to tobacco addiction, pricing of digital products and their impact on piracy as well as on environmental economics.

André Hoffmann

Advisory Board Member

André Hoffmann is the Vice Chairman of Roche Holding, Switzerland and serves on the board of the fully owned subsidiary Genentech Inc. in California (USA).

Alongside his non-executive roles in the family business, Mr. Hoffmann has a distinguished cursus in nature conservation and sustainability. He has served among others on the board of WWF International as Vice-President. He is the President of Fondation MAVA and of Fondation Tour du Valat in the Camargue, France.

Mr Hoffmann has joined the Board of SystemIQ to help positively disrupt critical economic systems; the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, as well as of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco. He has also been instrumental in establishing the Hoffmann Global Institute in Business and Society (HGIBS) at INSEAD, his Alma mater, and chairs its Advisory Board.

Mr. Hoffmann studied economics at St. Gallen University and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

He is currently completing his twentieth book, for Fast Company Press, focusing on the agenda in the last decade when the system can be steered onto a truly sustainable course. He has specialized in business sustainability and innovation since the 1970s and coined concepts like “The Green Consumer” and “The Triple Bottom Line”.


 

Erik Solheim

Advisory Board Member

Erik Solheim is a well-known global leader on environment and development as well as an experienced peace negotiator. He has served as Norwegian minister of Environment and International Development. During which he initiated the global program for conservation of rainforests. He brought Norwegian development assistance to 1%, the highest in the world.

Previously, Erik was Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee and Executive Director of UN Environment. He led the peace efforts in Sri Lanka and has played a vital role in peace efforts in Nepal, Myanmar and Sudan. Additionally, he was Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme from 2016 to 2018.

Currently he is senior adviser at World Resource Institute and Convener of the Global Coalition for Green Belt and Road and serves as the CEO of the Plastic REVolution Foundation.
 

Mark Gough

Advisory Board Member

Mark Gough is the Executive Director of the Natural Capital Coalition and led the collaboration that delivered the Natural Capital Protocol, a standardized global framework for including natural capital in decision making.

Mark previously worked for The Crown Estate, helping to develop its integrated vision and approach to value measurement. Prior to this he was the Global Environmental Manager for the information company, Reed Elsevier. Mark is on the TEEB Advisory board and has sat on a number of national and international committees, including the Steering Committee of the United Nations CEO Water Mandate, the Board of the Alliance for Water Stewardship, and the Aldersgate Group, which brings together business, politics and civil society to drive action for a sustainable economy

Dr. Jean Rogers

Advisory Board Member

Dr. Jean Rogers is the Founder of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), which she also led in various capacities for seven years, including as Chief Executive Officer (2011-2017) and Chair of the Standards Board (2017-2018).

Dr. Rogers is a 2018 INSEAD Society of Progress Medal Laureate and has been named by Barron’s as one of the Top 20 Influencers of Sustainable Investing in 2018. She was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting by Accounting Today in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She is a former Loeb Fellow at Harvard University, and holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, and a PhD in environmental engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Dr. Rogers is a currently a corporate advisor, speaker, and author living in Oakland, California

Dr. Joseph Mariathasan

Dr. Joseph Mariathasan is a Contributing Editor at Investments & Pensions Europe, the leading institutional investment news journal in Europe; a partner of Pangaea Finance Partners, which focuses on cross-border investment activities with Chinese institutions; and an Advisory Board member with Moneyhub, a UK fintech company.

Dr. Mariathasan has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets and asset management across both developed and emerging markets. He has been responsible for launching many innovative ventures in both developed and emerging markets. He has also worked on corporate finance and strategy consultancy projects for many of the leading global financial services companies.

Samir Shah

Samir has been involved with the global capital markets for over 25 years in New York and Hong Kong. He has worked in various capacities in the trading divisions at Goldman Sachs, and Salomon Brothers, prior to running an investment fund out of Hong Kong. He is currently based in Mumbai and in involved in various venture investments across sectors and is on the Board of several companies as a strategic advisor and mentor.

He is on the Board of Waaree Energies, a large solar manufacturer, Shell Foundation (India), Center for Innovation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (investment committee member), Metafin Cleantech (NBFC focused on rooftop solar) among his other roles. He is trained as a lawyer, Chartered accountant and an MBA (Wharton)

Maria Reyes-Diaz

Maria Fernanda is a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience providing managerial support and advising Boards and Senior Management. In her prior position as Governance Officer at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), Maria Fernanda shaped Board and business practices in organizational transformation, risk management, ethics and policy, inter alia. She has also been instrumental in strategy development for building institutional alliances.

She began her career in corporate finance before moving to the field of institutional governance in international organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and a Master of Commerce majoring in finance and economics at University of Sydney in Australia.

A Colombian by birth, Maria Fernanda has lived in several countries and considers herself a global citizen.

Nitin Nath

Nitin is the Co-Founder of Startup-O, an "Entrepreneurs-for Entrepreneurs" platform focused on the rapidly growing ecosystem of technology companies founded by mid career founders. He has a track record of serial entrepreneurship & investing in emerging Asian markets. His passion lies in enabling financial success for early stage startups, which inspire him through their dreams, energy and courage.
Nitin is a firm believer in collaborative business models, and is focused on reducing information gaps in the ecosystem. He believes that the future lies with structures that create transparency while harnessing entrepreneurship and amplifying creativity.
His career includes leadership positions in senior roles with global investment banks including responsibilities for listed products, institutional sales, structured products and private banking coverage. Amit Bose

Amit Bose is a Director of GIST (India), Advisor to and Shareholder of GIST (SA). He is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and has extensive 40 years’ of rich business experience in India and Asia.

Amit has worked in leadership roles in FMCG (HUL, Pepsi, Mattel), Telecom (Reliance, Tata, Bakrie) and as an entrepreneur in several start-ups. He is the founding partner of 3C Mobile Inc., a digital software firm. He is a true polymath with widespread interests across diverse subjects. His current focus is on Intelligent Analytics.

Amit is an Honours Graduate in Statistics from Bombay University.

P. Yesuthasen

P. Yesuthasen is a consultant in Foreign Exchange and Exchange Control and serves on the Boards of a Belgian software company and bank. He is also on the International and India Boards of a Church related Micro Finance Company and is involved in an Australian Trust that runs a Children's Home. Prior to that, he was a Deputy Controller in the Reserve Bank of India where, in the early nineties, he initiated a number of developments in the regulation of the Forex market.

He holds an MBA in Finance from Cass Business School, London.

Nachiketa Das has over 7 years of experience in conducting ecosystems services, human capital and social capital impact assessments and analysis.

Nachiketa has delivered several multi-capital stakeholder impact assessments, integrated reports and SDG assessments for leading corporates and organizations such as Sveaskog, Yarra Valley Water, AkzoNobel, AMATA, Soneva, BASF, Infosys, TATA Group, Conservation Wildlands Trust, Fairtrade UK, etc.

Kalil Cury Filho

Dr. Haripriya Gundimeda

Dr. Haripriya Gundimeda is a Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. She has made pioneering contributions in the area of Environmental Economics and has been the recipient of the START Young Scientist award in 2001. She was the President of International Urban Biodiversity and Design Network.

Dr. Gundimeda was one of the coordinating lead authors of the UN "The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” (TEEB) Report and the study on TEEB agriculture food complexes. She has been the lead author of five studies for the Green Accounting for Indian States Project. She currently works on various issues relating to environment and development economics.

Dr. Harpinder Sandhu

Dr. Harpinder Sandhu is a transdisciplinary scientist based in Australia. His research focuses on measuring social, human and natural capital for the transformation of agriculture and food systems towards sustainability. He has contributed in developing the scientific and economic foundations report of TEEBAgriFood and is the Principal Investigator on several farm level studies.

Dr. Sandhu was nominated by the Australian Government to the UN IPBES as an expert and has been a lead author in Pollination Report and Asia Pacific Regional Assessment. He served on the Advisory Panel on Agroecology in Asia Pacific region at the UN FAO. He has published books, research outputs and is an academic editor.

Dr. Andrea M. Bassi

Dr. Andrea Bassi has over 15 years of experience in the development of customized systems models for the assessment of policy and investment outcomes across sectors, actors, dimensions of development with specific expertise in green economy, climate mitigation and adaptation.

He is the Founder and CEO of KnowlEdge Srl, Extraordinary Associate Professor of System Dynamics Modelling at Stellenbosch University and Senior Associate at IISD.

Dr. Bassi is the co-author of the book titled Tackling Complexity and is also the lead author of the modelling chapter of UNEP’s Green Economy Report and has written national policy documents, strategies and action plans, in addition to chapters for the National Communications to the UNFCCC.
 

Dr. Naoki Adachi

Dr. Naoki Adachi has 17 years’ experience as sustainability and CSR consultant for leading Japanese companies. His major working themes are business and biodiversity, business application of natural capital accounting, and sustainable supply chain management, currently focusing on sustainable branding.

Previously he was associated with National Environmental Research Institute (NIES, under the Ministry of Environment) and Forest Research Institute in Malaysia (FRIM). He is currently CEO at ResponseAbility, Inc. and Executive Director of Japan Business and Biodiversity Initiative (JBIB). He is also a peer reviewer at various journals ranging from the Japanese Journal of Ecology to Sustainable Management.

Claudio Conti

Born in Rome in 1939. Claudio is a PHD in Mathematics and has taught for 12 years at the Italian University (Milan, Trento, Trieste). Among his main scientific contributions are a work on the Theory of Measurement, on foundational aspects of Probability Theory, and on the possibility of a formal (axiomatized) Theory of Causality. He is presently involved in the scientific area of Deep Learning, with reference to content analysis.

Claudio resigned from University to become head of RD and technology for a multinational company - AEGIS - operating in the area of media and communication. Initially based in London and subsequently in Wilton Ct USA. Together with Meenakshi Menon he has founded Spatial Access Ltd Mumbai, of which he is still a technology partner.

Claudio is also a fiction writer - one of his books received a special mention in an international competition for literary works – and painter, having exhibited in Milan (3 exhibitions) and in Ovada.
