We’re proud to mark our third year partnering with Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group to power the World’s Greenest Companies 2025 ranking – a globally respected benchmark for environmental sustainability performance.
This year’s ranking evaluated over 8,000 publicly listed companies across 26 countries, using GIST Impact’s robust sustainability data and analytics. From that pool, the top 750 companies were selected based on their environmental performance.
To be eligible, companies had to meet minimum sustainability standards set by the European Union — widely regarded as among the world’s most rigorous. They also needed to have publicly available sustainability disclosures and more than 1,000 employees.
The companies were then evaluated and scored on more than 25 parameters based on the following 4 categories:
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions
- Water Usage
- Waste Generation
- Sustainability Data Disclosure and Commitments
The result is a credible, comprehensive, and data-driven global assessments of corporate sustainability to date. We’re especially pleased to see a number of organisations we work with featured in the final list (Ørsted, Wipro, and UBS to name a few) – a clear signal that science-based, data-backed approaches to sustainability are gaining real traction.
This ranking underscores the growing importance of high-quality impact data in shaping credible sustainability leadership. At GIST Impact, we’re proud to support this shift – not just by enabling transparency, but by helping companies and investors make better decisions for people and the planet.
