National Australia Bank is one of Australia’s largest financial institutions, serving around 10 million customers and holding a market-leading position in business and agribusiness lending. Its 2025 Annual Report, published this month, sets out the Group’s strategy, performance, and sustainability progress – and includes a notable reference to GIST Impact.
In the report’s Data and Insights section, NAB describes a trial developed with GIST Impact to support the Group in understanding their nature-related impacts and dependencies at the portfolio level – with a particular focus on companies in the agriculture sector. The work was conducted in line with TNFD guidance and was designed to test how data can generate customer insights and, ultimately, support NAB’s ability to help customers engage with sustainable practices.Â
For GIST Impact, this collaboration reflects the growing demand among major financial institutions for rigorous, portfolio-level nature data. Agriculture is one of the sectors most exposed to – and most responsible for – nature-related risk, and understanding those dynamics at scale is precisely the challenge our data is built to address.
As institutions like NAB move from awareness to action on nature, the need for trusted, decision-ready data has never been greater.
