We’re always enhancing our Data Portal – driven by client feedback, the latest science, and best practice. Here are the most notable updates from Q3:

All the updates below are available in both company and portfolio views – now easier than ever.

Ocean Sensitive Areas

Developed in partnership with HubOcean, Data Portal’s Ocean Sensitive Areas dataset enables asset-level assessments of exposure to six ecologically sensitive marine habitats and protected areas, including coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass. Through interactive maps and company/portfolio-level exposure metrics, users can identify potential nature-related risks across business operations and investment holdings. These insights support investment due diligence, corporate site assessments, risk screening and TNFD-aligned nature-related disclosures.

Indigenous Peoples and Community Lands

Built on the LandMark Global Platform, our Data Portal’s Indigenous Land Data enables asset-level assessments of proximity to and overlap with mapped Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ lands, including their legal recognition status. Company/portfolio-level maps and exposure metrics help users identify potentially affected communities, assess land rights exposure and prioritise locations requiring further investigation. These insights support responsible investment, human rights due diligence, stakeholder engagement and sustainability reporting, including alignment with CSRD ESRS S3.

Species Threat Abatement and Restoration (STAR)

Based on IUCN Red List data and delivered in partnership with IBAT, our Data Portal’s Species Threat Abatement and Restoration (STAR) dataset identifies locations where conservation and habitat restoration efforts could make the greatest contribution to reducing species extinction risk. Standardised opportunity scores enable comparisons across assets, companies and portfolios, highlighting locations and threats where biodiversity interventions could be most effective. These insights support conservation investment prioritisation, corporate biodiversity target-setting, mitigation planning and nature-positive strategies, alongside TNFD- and PBAF-aligned assessments.

TNFD Disclosure Mapping

Our TNFD Disclosure Mapping feature aligns Environmental, Nature and Biodiversity, and Climate Risk metrics with relevant TNFD disclosure indicators at company and portfolio levels. The mapping covers key topics including GHG emissions, exposure to sensitive locations, land and water use, pollution, ecosystem dependencies, biodiversity impacts and nature-related physical risks. This supports financial institutions, consultants and corporates in streamlining TNFD-aligned reporting, identifying disclosure gaps and integrating nature-related considerations into risk management and strategic decision-making.
