Environmental Finance’s prestigious Sustainable Investment Awards 2026 has named GIST Impact Global Data Provider of the Year. This award cements our position as a leading force in nature and biodiversity intelligence, and we couldn’t be prouder.
The need for trusted nature data
The award recognises GIST Impact’s comprehensive nature and biodiversity data ecosystem, which includes sensitive location analysis, natural capital impact valuation, biodiversity footprint metrics, Nature Value at Risk, and climate risk assessments spanning 16 physical risk categories across multiple institutional-grade scenarios and time horizons. Crucially, our methodology aligns fully with leading sustainability regulations and frameworks, giving investors confidence in its rigour and relevance.
The judges referenced our partnership with independent European wealth and asset management firm, Cape Capital in their rationale for the award. In 2023, Cape Capital engaged GIST Impact to support its Cape Nature Positive Economy (NPE) Fund, which aimed to combine financial performance with environmental regeneration. Accordingly, GIST Impact delivered a science-based natural capital accounting framework that translates environmental impacts into monetary terms, enabling Cape Capital to assess portfolio companies at a granular asset level.
The results undoubtedly speak for themselves, and were summed up in Cape Capital’s latest ‘Pulse Check’ Report:
The NPE Fund achieved a 23.34% reduction in Natural Capital Intensity and a 21.88% reduction in Biodiversity Intensity between 2019 and 2022, outperforming global equity benchmarks.
GIST Impact’s data also allowed Cape Capital to measure biodiversity pressures using Potentially Disappeared Fraction of Species metrics, generating insights from sector-level trends to company-specific benchmarking.
